Link Fest: Three Articles on Compliments

By: RyanFreed Category: Link Fest

We at Emerging Tiro LLC thought that our Tiro’s would find it useful if we wrote an article twice a week recommending articles from other websites or blogs that pertain to the authors page posted the previous day.  Therefore, we are starting our posts called “Link Fest.”  Today’s “Link Fest” is about the topic of Compliments.

 “Using Compliments To Control Communication”

Life Hack features an article about using compliments as effective communication tools.  It discusses six ways that you can create lasting relationships with a person through compliments.  However, it informs you at the end of the article that the compliment must be sincere.  As Dennis Freed stated in his page, Five Compliments a day, sincerity is the key to achieve the effects of a compliment.  Find the article on Life Hack here.

 “Can You Take a Compliment?”

Christopher R. Edgar of The New Sun writes an article about people’s unwillingness to accept a compliment.  He discusses how many people have adopted a scarcity mentality.  This means that you feel ashamed or guilty when receiving a compliment and do not take as much credit as you deserve.  I found this just as important as being able to give a sincere compliment.  When you receive a sincere compliment, the giver is getting just as much joy as you.  If you dismiss the compliment, than you are in essence dismissing the intent of a sincere compliment.  Find this great article here.

 “Compliment Guys”

The Chicago Tribune published a story on two Purdue University Students.  They stood on the Purdue campus giving out comments to random students that passed by.  There act has been nationally recognized and they are currently beginning a 10 city tour.  I guess there’s no better way to take some of the stress out of your busy college day than to receive a sincere compliment.  Check out the article here.
